Kollen Troll’s story
by Trond Brænne and Rune Johan Andersson

“Sometimes in the spring the earth cracks as the winter frost thaws. Everything that has been frozen stiff all winter melts. Roads can become bumpy and small humps and depressions appear everywhere. It happens every year, and no one is surprised by it. Sometimes, however, there are bigger changes in the landscape than anyone is able to exlain, changes that can only be the work of trolls.”

This is what happened when Kollen Troll came to Holmenkollen. Perhaps you wonder where he came from?
“I come from the deep forest and the high mountains. I come from east of the sun and west of the moon. From moonlight and twilight. From mist and from bog. From warm summers and frigid winters. From folk tales and legends, from imagination and from real life. I have been everywhere,” the Kollen Troll story begins.

Kollen Troll has got his own book called, yes, exactly, The Holmenkollen Troll. In the book, written by Trond Brænne and illustrated by Rune Johan Andersson, we read about Kollen Troll and his friend, Little Troll. You get to know them and what they are up to on their Gratishaugen hill. For they do go on trips from time to time.
The book, published by J.M. Stenersens Forlag AS, costs NOK 198.-, postage not included. It can be purchased in a bookshop or ordered by email on the address: kollentrollet@jms.no.
The book is also available in English and German.

Later this year, Kollen Troll’s story will be available on CD. The CD also includes folk tales collected by Asbjørnsen and Moe, so that you may get to know other Norwegian trolls. You can read more about this under ‘Troll products’.
