One of Norways leading sculptors, Nils Aas has made many fantastic sculptures. If you take a closer look at the sculptures you see in Norway, you will probably find Nils Aas signature on many of them. Outside Bislet stands the statue of Grethe Waitz, and in the ceiling at Oslo central station, we can see Skinner (Rails). At Holmenkollen is the Moose from the 1982 Nordic Ski World Championship. In Bergen you will find a statue of Henrik Ibsen outside the National Scene and not to forget the King Haakon VI monument, unveiled in 1972, which represented the break-through for Nils Aas as a sculptor. Now he has made Kollen Troll. The construction work began in the fall of 2001. Kollen Troll is cast in concrete by Selmer Skanska AS under the expert guidance and supervision of Nils Aas, and sponsored by J.M. Stenersens Forlag AS. Kollen Troll was unveiled on 10 March, 2002 during the opening of the Childrens Holmenkollen festival, and formally presented to Oslo municipality as a gift from J.M. Stenersens Forlag AS. |
